GBZ Denpasar

The establishment of the  Gouvernements Burgerlijke Ziekeninrichting (Government civil hospital) at Denpasar will have been somewhere in the 1920s. The Vereeniging Ziekenverpleging Zuid-Bali (Association Hospital Care South Bali) at Denpasar was mentioned in the Regeeringsalmanak 1917, 1 CV, 440.The hospital was also mentioned in the Annex to the NI Staatsblad no. 11446 of 30 August 1927. This document regulated the use, personnel and tariffs of Inlandsche hospitals (Indigenous hospitals) The same sort of document, mentioning the GBZ at Denpasser  (Spelled Denpasar) was issued on 9 February 1937 (no.13808). In both cases the hospital was classified as a hospital with two different nursing classes: class 3 (nursing fee ƒ 3) and class 4 (nursing fee ƒ 1,50).

The Indisch Verslag 1938 (p. 395) mentions that in accordance with the general decentralization policy, this GBZ was transferred to the Landscape of Badung. From 1938 its status was a local hospital.

Denpasser (Denpasar) is a town, situated on the island of Bali, Residency Bali and Lombok.
