Among other stories a short history is told of the very beginning of this hospital as a dysentery barrack:

In 1909 there was a very dangerous dysentery epidemic in Tanah Batak, the victims were mainly in the Humbang area.
To fight this epidemic the government and Zending worked together to build wards, including in Pangaribuan, Butar and
Dolok Sanggul and Zending worked on treatment and care, Epidemic it also spreads to the Toba highlands. This has made the work of doctors at the Main Hospital in Tarutung more widespread, therefore "Isolir Barake" was establishe in the Toba area, namely Balige. On August 1, 1918 "Isolir Barake" in Balige was decided by the Auxiliary Hospital or what was known as the Balige HKBP
Hospital, led by K.H. WEISSENBRUCH (a misinar at the Zending Balige station), with a capacity of 10 people.
