HISTORY

The Cicendo Eye Hospital was inaugurated on January 3, 1909 under the name Koningen Wilhemina Gathuis voor Ooglijders and its first director CHA Westhoff. The services provided at that time were outpatient services, inpatient care and operation activities. In 1930 , he began to carry out outreach activities to areas around Bandung, such as Sumedang, Tanjungsari, Congeang, Darmaraja, Situraja, and Legok.

Years 1942 – 1945 acted as a General Hospital. Since 1961, it has served as the Teaching Hospital of the Faculty of Medicine, Padjadjaran University. In 1976 it hasbecome the Eye Bank Activity Center and World Health Day Activity Center with the theme of Blindness Prevention. From 1977 – 1979 to become the Research Office for the Prevention of Vitamin A Deficiency in collaboration with AFOB and the Ministry of Health. In 1978 it was designated as a Type C Hospital by the Ministry of Health. In 1992 it was designated as a Type B Non-Educational Hospital.

In 2000 accredited 5 services. In 2005 accredited 12 services. In 2006, he was accredited A for the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine, Padjadjaran University. In 2007 it became a Class A Special Hospital and became a Hospital with a Public Service Agency Financial Management Pattern (PPK BLU).

In 2009 it was designated as the NATIONAL EYE CENTER .

In 2014 it was designated as a Teaching Hospital and was accredited at the Plenary Level by the Hospital Accreditation Commission (KARS), and again received Plenary Accreditation in 2017 .

In 2020 , it is designated as an International  Accredited Hospital
