This hospital was originally a Zending hospital founded by the Dutch which is located in the Trenggiling hamlet, Kalikajar village, Kaligondang District, Purbalingga Regency. Then the Hospital was handed over to the Government of Indonesia. In 1979 the Governor of Central Java, Soeparjo Roestam, suggested that the location be moved, because the location was no longer adequate. In 1981 the construction of the Purbalingga Hospital building began at a new location in Kembaran Kulon Village, Purbalingga District. In 1983 RSUD Purbalingga was designated as a class C hospital by SK. Minister of Health. No. 223/Menkes/VI/1983.

On May 5, 1986, officially all activities of Purbalingga Hospital moved to a new location on Jl. Student Army No. 22 Kembaran Kulon Village, Purbalingga District.
