This hospital originally was established by a roman catholic orgnaization. After the war it developed into a regional hospital belonging to the kabupaten Magelang (Jawa Tengah). The hospital is classified as a category C hospital (registration code: 3308014) with 161 beds. The hospital is situated on: Jalan Kartini no. 13 Balemudyo, Kec.Muntilan (Kabupaten Magelang).

In 1925 Father Vanlith and his sisters founded a medical center in the Muntilan area. The medical center is led by a nun named Sr. Alfrida Smulder Francisco. The formation of the Muntilan Hospital organization was based on Magelang Regent Regulation number 47 of 2021 concerning Formation, Position, Organizational Structure, Duties and Functions, and Work Procedures for Special Organizational Units at the Health Service which took effect on 17 February 2022 and is still in a transitional period of change from before is a Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD) to become a UOBK which carries out government affairs in the health sector in the form of a regional hospital in accordance with statutory provisions.
