The Company hospital of Balimbingan was founded in 1927, by the Handels Vereeniging Amsterdam (HVA), which exploited a tea plantation on the Eastcoast of Sumatra.

Nowadays (2022) the hospital continued its function under the name Rumah sakit Umum Balimbingan PTP 4. It is a category C hospital (registration code 1209010) with 110 beds. The hospital is situated at Desa Balimbingan, Kecamatan Tanah Jawa, Kabupaten Simalungan (Sumatera Utara).

The hospital has 152 persons staff, of whom 16 medical doctors and 67 nurses.

Balimbingan was part of the subdepartment Simeloengoen and part of the Karolanden, Government Eastcoast of Sumatra.
