The mine hospital at Soengei-Liat on the island of Bangka was established by the NI Government and by Decision of the Governor-General of 23 June 1908 nr. 1, it was decided that this hospital and the similar hospitals on Bangka all would become Government civilian hospitals (GBZ).
Statistics of 1909 of the mine hospital of Soengei Liat: 209 patients per day with an average length of stay of 14 days. Admitted were 5376 patients (5316 miners). Number of nursing days: 75,264. Total population 29,186, of whom 66 Europeaans and 17,008 Chinese. Sickness percentage was 3.8 % .
