1879-1880:
As for the numbers of leprosy patients the following data were collected for the yers 1877 and 1878:
Only the leprosy asylums in the Buitenbezittingen are financed by the Government with the exception of the one at Temoempah, which was closed due to the absence of patients and according to the decision which was mentioned in the previous report (page 125). Only the one at Tandjong Pinang is financed by a capital collected by the Chinese population.
1882-1883:
Because of the rather low number of patients it was decided in april to close The Gorontalo institution. The two remaining patients could be taken care of by their family. The hospitals at Djokjakarta and Soerakarta are maintained by the Javanese aristocracy. At Riouw only the personnel costs are covered by the Government, while the remaining costs are covered from the rents of a capital brought togetherby the Chinese population.
1897:
As for the hospitals that nurse leprosy patients it appears that the one at Pelantoengan (Semarang) accomodated in 1897 a number of 83 patients (among whom 22 European). Two patients died and 37 were discharged on their wish. At Wangkoeng (Soerakarta) 103 patients have been hospitalized in 1897. At the end of that year 108 were still present, 29 died in the course of that year, while 9 were evacuated and 17 were discharged. The leprosy foundation at Loano (Djokjakarta) had during 1897 293 patients of whom 200 were discharged and 42 died. Near the main city of Pontianak (Westerafdeling of Borneo) a leprosy hospital was established as was claimed by the population (supporting its upkeep by their own contributions). In this institution 7 persons were present by the end of the year 1897. In the residence Eastcoast of Sumatra, where leprosy is found among the immigrated Chinese population, the leprosy asylum at Medan accomodated 84 patients by the end of 1897, which was a surplus of 15 compared to the numbers in the previous year, during the year 41 patients had been admitted and 12 had been dischaarged and 14 died. At Medan and in the neighbourhood of the afdelingscapital Tandjong Poera (Beneden Langkat) a leprosy asylum is financed by the Chinese community.
