The mission hospital Lebak was a general hospital that was stablished in 1933 by the Roman Catholic congregation Franciscan Sisters of Amsterdam. The town of establishment was Lebak in the neighbourhood of Rangkasbitung.

Lebak was a regency and district of the Residency Bantam in the province of West Java. The regency has 256,000 inhabitants of whom 300 Europeans and 2,000 Chinese. The capital is Rangkasbitoeng. The former department Lebak acquired renown by E. Douwes Dekker (Multatuli) who wrote his book Max Havelaar, when he was assistant-resident of Lebak (Gonggryp 1934, 727).
