The mission hospital at Pangaribuan (Tapanuli) was in terms of subsidy regulations an auxiliary hospital (it had no permanent medical resident) and was classified as a category 1 hospital (10-25 beds).
KV 1910: To this hospital in the department Toba and Silindoeng a subsidy has been accorded as from 1910 conforming Staatsblad van Nederlandsch Indie 1906, no. 276.
Pangariboean is a subdistrict of Silindoeng. The region is very densely populated and is very mountainous. The Batang Toroe is the main river that streams through the region. The population is Batak and for a large part christianized by the Rheinische Missionsgesellschaf (Gonggryp 1934, 1297).
