The mission hospital at Maros (South Sulawesi) was a general hospital.

Michel Tahitu was from 1943-1967 employed by this hospital. Nowadays there is still a hospital at Maros, called Rumah Sakit Umum Salewangeng Maros with 117 beds. The hospital is situated on Jalan Ujung Pandang Km 3, Maros.

Maros was the subdepartment with a homonymos of the department Makassar of the Government Celebes and Dependencies, ruled by a Controller Binnenlands Bestuur . The subdepartment has 98,000 inhabitants, of whom 30 Europeans and 200 Chinese (Gonggryp 1934, 818).
