Staatsblad van Nederlands-Indie (NI Statutebook) no. 33 of 21 January 1907 mentions the appointment of two male servants on a monthly pay of 15 guilders and one female servant for the monthly salary of 10 guilders at the Inlandsch hospitaal te Buitenzorg (Indigenous hospital at Bogor). This was an appointment by the NI government, so the indigenopus hospital was a public general hospital. In the annual report of the Civil Medical Service of 1909 it is mentioned that in this hospital during 1909 a number of 175 male patients and of 32 female patients had been admitted.
Apparently, later on the public character has been transferred to a private initiative, for in 1922 the Regeeringsalmanak of that year (Grondgebied en Bevolking) no longer mentions a public facility, but a private subsidized auxiliary hospital at Buitenzorg, probably the Vereeniging Inlandsch Ziekenhuis Djasinga.
In the 1930s, Buitenzorg was a Residency, regency, district and subdistrict with a principal town of the same name in the province of West Java, in the immediate surroundings of Batavia. The indigenous name of Buitenzorg was Bogor. At that time the Residency had 2,200,000 inhabitants of whom 11,000 Europeans, and 37,000 Chinese. The principal town Buitenzorg had 65,000 inhabitants of whom 5,000 Europeans and 8,000 Chinese. Buitenzorg was the seat of the Governor-General, it is named after the mansion of the former governor-general van Imhoff. The algemeene secretarie, Lands Plantentuin and the palace of the governor-general were all established at Buitenzorg. The town had a municipal council and a mayor (Gonggryp 1934, 194).
