Venereal hospital Ambarawa

Koloniaal Verslag 1904:

Part of the prisons in the  NI has been transformed into establishments for the nursing of sick prostitutes. This was also the case with the prisons of Ambarawa and Djoewana (Semarang). Establishments to care for the poor (sompoks) are established in the same placees.

The NI Government allowed the following numbers of personnel: for every 30 prostitutes one female servant. In addition, one mandoer, when there were more than 10 prostitutes.

On 1 March 1911 this establishment together with other institutions of the same category was closed in accordance with the newly formulated policy that there was no positive result to be expected of this kind of care.
