Koloniaal Verslag 1903-1904:
Next to the prison of Demak (Semarang) a hospital was built in 1902 to nurse sick prostitutes, whereas for the same purpose a separate building was founded at Manggar (Billiton).
These decsions have been taken by (Gouvernements Besluit of 10 April 1903 no. 3).
The NI Government allowed the following numbers of personnel: for every 30 prostitutes one female servant. In addition, one mandoer, when there were more than 10 prostitutes.
On 1 March 1911 this establishment together with other institutions of the same category was closed in accordance with the newly formulated policy that there was no positive result to be expected of this kind of care.
