Indigenous hospital Manonjaja

The Inlands hospitaal (indigenous hospital) Manondjaja was established in a district of the Tasikmalaja Regency in the Residency of the Priangan (West Java). The hospital was mentioned in the Government decision of 2 September 1905 no. 11 (Regeeringsalmanak 1906, part I) as one of the hospitals outside the 3 principal cities of Java, of which target group, management and appointment of personnel were regulated by the NI Government. The hospital at Manondja was a public hospital that procured care for civilians.

In the 1930s, Manondjaja was a district of the Regency Tasikmalaja in the Priangan Residency of the province of West Java. The regency of Tasikmalaja had 887,000 inhabitants, of whom 750 Europeans and 4,600 Chinese. The capital Tasikmalaja has an agreeable, cool climate and is situated on the railroad Batavia, Bandoeng, Jogjakarta. Tasikmalaja is connected by steamtram with Singaparna (Gonggryp 1934, 1392).
