Indigenous hospital Muara Aman

The Inlands hospitaal (indigenous hospital) at Moeara Aman was established in 1909 according to Gouvernementsbesluit (Governmental decision) no. 8 of 30 September 1909 (Regeeringsalmanak 1911, part I, p. 340). The hospital probably was closed about 1926. From 1927 no mention was found.

Moeara Aman (Moeara means the mouth of the river) was the main town of the subdivision Lebong, Residency Benkoelen, West Sumatra. It was lying high in the mountains, had a cool climate and was connected by autoroute with the capital city of Benkoelen and the region of Palembang (Gonggryp 1934, 862).
